Frequently Asked Questions
Who do you coach? I am a business coach and I work with employees, managers and leaders of companies. These companies range from SME’s through to multinationals that are for profit or not for profit.
Do you have a niche? Sort of, I work in the area of behavioural coaching, and more specifically I support people in the area of personal effectiveness, leadership development, sales performance and innovation. I also work as a team coach.
Have you been trained as a coach? Yes. I have been trained by several organisations to work as a coach. I have received general coach training from Coach University. I have also been trained in Coaching with Transactional Analysis by ChangeMaker International Ltd and Performance Management Coaching by Performance Associates Ltd. As well as coach specific training I have also studied management and business at a Certificate and Diploma level as well as an MBA from the OUBS.
Are you certified as a coach? I am currently undertaking the stringent requirements for certification by the International Coach Federation and aim to be certified by end of 2008.
Will I get a measurable return on investment from my coaching with you? Yes, together we will develop a plan to measure the success of the coaching as well as clarify key milestones for achieving that success
How do I know that our personalities will match? Sign up for a complimentary session of thirty minutes to see if we are suited to partnering together. If this goes well I will invest some more time getting to know you and your business better before we get down to more coaching.
Do you do this as a full time job? No, I also do some other things that are aligned with my work as a coach. I run a small business designing and running corporate team building events called Cádiz Outdoor. I also work as a facilitator and trainer for companies on a global basis and manage this part of my work through the domain MasterFacilitator.com. Running these other facets allow me to work an even broader range of clients that I can learn from and apply to the coaching relationships that I have.
I see this website is in English and Spanish can you coach in both languages? Yes I do, and if you require coaching in another language, I have a network of coaches that work in other languages.
How long does a typical coaching engagement last? Each client is different but typically from 6 months to two years. I prefer to coach for a minimum of three months to ensure that the positive changes stick. Each month with the client I review the process and my value add with the client to see where we can improve and in what direction the client wants to move forward in.
How often is a person coached? This depends on the preference of the client. Some clients prefer once a month for a 4 hour session with a quick check in call each week. Most clients, however, prefer telephone based coaching that is around 45 minutes per week, 3 weeks a month or 1 hour a couple of times a month.
Are our conversations private? Absolutely. I am a member of the International Coach Federation and abide to their ethical guidelines. For more information see HERE.
Even if my manager or HR department hires you to coach me? Yes. Absolutely.
Do you record our coaching sessions? No, Not normally. I may occasionally so that my coach can hear me coach and help me improve my coaching style. If this is the case I will explicitly request your permission. You may say no to this request. If you would like me to record our calls for your benefit I can do this at no extra charge.
What tools do you use to coach? I may use tools but this depends on the need of the client and the circumstance. I am qualified and experienced in using a range of personal development tools including MBTI, Firo-B, Lominger Leadership Architect Voices 360 degree feedback. I also have a range of non psychometric instruments that I may use also such as Thomas Kilman Conflict Mode Instrument, Belbin Team Role Instrument, FourSight Innovation styles survey.
